Semifinal 1: Manual 56, Marion Co. 54

  • Epps misses another layup with five seconds left, then two putbacks rim out and Manual advances to the championship game with a 56-54 win.
  • Mechael Guess misses the front end of a one-and-one and Marion has called a timeout with the ball trailing 56-54 with 9.5 seconds to go.
  • Epps misses a driving layup with 25 seconds to go and now Manual has the ball and the 56-54 lead with 17.8 seconds to play.
  • As players are diving for the ball, Marion manages to call a timeout. With 49.1 seconds to go, the Knights trail 56-54.
  • With 2:23 to go, Manual clings to a slim 54-52 lead over Marion County. Both teams are tightening up a bit.
  • Manual has pulled back ahead and is up 50-47 with five minutes left in the first semifinal.
  • Three quarters down and a big one to go and Marion has a 47-45 and tons of momentum right now.
  • Marion County is right back in it, leading 42-41 with 2:13 to go in the third quarter. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers leads the Knights with 16 points, including the go-ahead three-pointer a few seconds ago.
  • HALFTIME: Manual 33, Marion Co. 27 — It’s been an up and down, fun athletic game as billed. Makayla Epps has been impressive with 13 first-half points as well as two assists. For Manual, Leasia Wright leads the way with nine points, but the Crimsons have four different players with five points or more.
  • Manual has a 27-21 advantage with 2:52 remaining before halftime. Leasia Wright leads the Crimsons with nine points. Epps leads Knights with nine as well.
  • After one quarter, Manual and Marion County are all tied up 13-13.
  • Marion County opened the first semifinal with a 7-0 run, but Manual seems to be settling in and has scored the last five. So it’s 7-5 with 3:50 to play in the first half.
