Consolation semis: No. 16 PRP 7, No. 12 Lafayette 5

The winner of this game advances to Saturday’s consolation championship where it will face the winner of Calloway County and No. 11 Central Hardin.

  • With the go-ahead run at the plate, the Panthers get out of the inning to preserve the win.
  • Lafayette still has some life. Alexis Hull’s two-run single gets the Generals within two runs with one out.
  • Coach Dana Taylor got tossed for arguing a call at third base. Lafayette has two runners on and one out in its last inning.
  • A wild pitch gives the Panthers another run and the Generals suffer a bigger loss when shortstop Brittany Sims goes down after a slide at second base.
  • Sara Paragon’s sacrifice fly to deep centerfield scored Lindsey from third in the fifth inning to extend PRP’s lead to 5-2.
  • Another controversy for Lafayette. The outfielder picked up a ball that went under the fence and could have been ruled a ground-rule double, but because it was picked up before the official could get out and verify, Paige Murphy was given an in-the-park home run.
  • Lauren Mitchell gets an RBI single to put the Generals on the board. Katelyn Mitchell adds another RBI.
  • In the second and third inning, PRP has managed to turn double plays to end the inning. Lafayette can’t seem to get anything started.
  • Samantha Lindsay got a hold of a hovering Cassidy Taylor pitch and jacked it over the left-field fence for a two-run home run in the first inning.

Semifinals: No. 1 Ballard 14, No. 12 Lafayette 2 (FINAL)

Semifinals at Jack Fisher Park

  • Ballard adds another to the board with two outs in the fourth inning.
  • Infield errors are killing the Generals, who have made routine plays all tournament until now. With two outs, Emily Kincaid has been brought in to relieve Cassidy Taylor.
  • Bruins score five runs on four hits and two Generals errors to take  5-2 lead over the Generals.
  • Ballard has evened the score 2-2 after a one-run triple and then a sacrifice bunt for a run. Cassidy Taylor opted for the out instead of going for the runner headed home.
  • As it has done all tournament, Lafayette jumped on its opponent early. Brittany Sims homered over the left-field fence to start the first inning. Then Emily Kincaid’s double pushed in Alexis Hull to give the Generals a 2-0 lead after one inning.
